Electronics and Telecommunication

Full-time, 1-st level degree courses (B.Sc) are seven semesters long and finish by preparation of diploma dissertation (engineering project). The graduate is awarded an "engineer degree" (an equivalent to a Bachelor of Science degree) in Electronics and Telecommunications.

The graduates of the first level degree courses acquire theoretical knowledge and practical abilities essential for designing, fabricating, putting into practice and exploiting electronic circuits, equipments and systems and telecommunication systems, networks and services. Education is based on carefully selected set of courses, which serve suitable profiling of education for future electronic and telecommunication engineering to take advantage of modern technologies and computer-aided design but also to create new technologies and computer tools.

During the first year of study the prospective graduate gets theoretical preparation from general science courses and basic courses: Mathematics, Physics, Programming Methods and Techniques, Computational Techniques, Simulation Techniques, Circuits Theory, Signals Theory.

In the next years the prospective graduate gets the education from major courses: Semiconductor Devices, Metrology, Analogue Electronic Circuits, Digital Electronics, Microprocessor Technology, Signal Processing, Computer Architectures and Operating Systems, Introduction to Telecommunications, Optoelectronics, Wireless Technology, Computer Networks, Telecommunication Networks and Systems.

Further education profiling is accomplished by specialization courses: Hardware Description Languages, Implementation of Digital Signal Processing, Computer Network Equipments, Digital ASIC Design, CMOS Analogue Integrated Circuits Design, Hardware Implementation of Algorithms, Microsystems and Sensor Networks, Telecommunication Switching Systems, Object Oriented Methods of Computer Systems Design, WWW and Object Script Languages, Optical Networks, Databases, Cellular Systems, Digital Communications.

To enhance further the education of the prospective graduate, two elective courses are proposed.

There is a large contribution of practical duties during the study (basic, major and specialization courses: well equipped labs, computer aided design, projects and classes). Each student has to take part in four-week internship in an enterprise or a specialized service providing company, which further develops her/his professional skills.

The program makes opportunity for students to get a broad education and practical skills from basic and general courses but also some important knowledge in the economy field, which will allow the graduate to actively participate in economic life and independently conduct their own economic activity.

The knowledge acquired by the graduates during the 1-st level degree courses allows them to continue their education on the 2-nd level degree of study at technical universities and raising their qualifications in the frame-work of continuous institutional or self education.

Job opportunities

The graduates can be employed in electronic and telecommunication industry, at network and carrier providers, in enterprises focused on designing and installation of electronic systems and computer networks. Some of them could be employed in factories producing components for corporate networks, automatic and robotic systems, measurement and control equipment and medical equipment.
